The petition of RANDALL JOHNSON


Herein represented by A KIRSTEN Attorney, humbly submit that:
Your Petitioner is a 26 year old male presently serving two sentences of 15 years imprisonment (30 years cumulatively) at Brandvlei prison, imposed on him in hoc casu.


Your petitioner was charged in the Bellville Regional Court (also known as the Backlog Court situated at the new Specialized Commercial Court ) on 2 counts of Murder. Your petitioner, who was represented by his attorney of record, pleaded not guilty on both counts and was thereupon tried and convicted on the 6 December 2007 before learned Regional Court Magistrate MR F. BOTES. Who sentenced your petitioner on the same date to 15 years imprisonment on each count, cumulatively thus to 30 years imprisonment.


An application on behalf of your petitioner for leave to appeal, against both conviction and sentence, pursuant to the provisions of Section 309B of Act 51 of 1977 in respect of the conviction and sentence was made on the 19 February 2008, by his attorney of record, which application was then refused. Your petitioner humbly draws attention to the fact that this petition is for leave to appeal against the conviction and sentence and such ancillary relief as may deem fit.
